living musical ['liv[ng] 'myü-zi-k&l]

  1. a musical based on the lives of living people
  2. a musical existing in real time
  3. a musical created on the internet by the award-winning writing team Kerrigan and Lowdermilk based on the lives of two young bloggers as they share the story of their freshman years of college

Oh yeah.

Just a quick little note of happiness. 3/5 of my college applications are done! WOOT! Especially good considering two of those three were due today. Now I just have to start working on finding monologues and songs and preparing for the auditions, since in reality, auditions are about 98% of how they accept people into conservatories. But it feels good to be done…or at least done for now.

  1. Congrats! I’m in the exact same situation as you. I’m applying to musical theatre conservatories as a transfer too.

  2. I am the exact opposite as you. I want to apply but doubt myself… so instead I write scripts. Read a lot, watch a lot of movies…and listen to a ridiculous amount of music.

Dude, I hope all goes well. Break a leg and just have fun.

  3. I’m so curious which schools you’re applying for! I attend a conservatory program and remember the whole audition process vividly - audition week was one of the happiest and most fun/exciting times of my life! Congrats on finishing your apps and good luck getting your audition pieces together. Break a leg and have a blast during the process!

  4. I wish I had the money, or the drive to get the student loans for a different school. (this next part has nothing to do with this story but…I am at lunch with my two friends. and they go around the college and they find love notes… it’s like high school, they seriously find love notes lying on the ground. I just thought this was a random funny fact.)

  5. that would make for such an interesting website… have you seen that postcard blog where the guy collects and scans postcards from people all over the country. you could post anonymous love notes - it would be a cross between the postcard blog and that missed connections section on craigslist which i was temporarily obsessed with a few years ago. you’ll have to keep us updated on some of the good love notes you guys find.

  6. There’s a series of books called ‘Found’ where these guys have compiled thousands of found notes, pictures, clippings, etc. I think they’ve actually teamed up with Postsecret now for charity events and stuff.

  7. there is a website called found where you can send in those letters, it’s a great site, they have a couple magazines and books out. oh the people in our world. actually found and postsecret tour together. google it and check it out!

  8. We’re ridiculously off-topic by now, but I absolutely love that kind of stuff! My mom is a visual artist and she does lots of work with found objects so I guess I sort of grew up looking at scraps as pieces of inspiration.
