FreshX at Goodspeed
Hey guys, so while Kait and I were up at Goodspeed they had a cabaret featuring the new artists that were in residence. So we performed “My Heart Is Split” live for the first time ever, and also talked a bit about the project. I think the audience was pretty psyched - and certainly surprised. Here’s a clip, courtesy of my dad and my crappy handheld flipvideo thing…
Sorry about the sound quality. I watched the video and couldn’t tell whether all the interference was forks clinking around or actual interference. Came to believe it’s the latter because it too closely coincided to our s’s. Feel free to skip to the half-way point if you can’t understand what we’re saying, it’s much easier to understand once the music starts.
ahahaha i am so glad i made it onto this video. by the way, saramaile is my first name. weird i know. and it’s pronounced saramiley. i didn’t realize there was a forum. but now i will go investigate. you guys get me through the week. thanks!
I was so excited watching the video - there is something really, really cool about seeing an audience react to a song that has grown right in front of us. Awesome!
Okay, I thought I heard my name but couldn’t hear what it was in reference to because of the people laughing. (If you could just fill me in when you get the chance that would be great.
Also, I love the finished product. And Sue was right. (about the audience reacting to something that has been in front of us for months.) Also, even though I had no part that actual process of creating the song or any of this I feel sort of connected and proud that I am involved in something that people like. (Don’t worry I won’t go out and steal your idea and get a new forum on the internet or anything. you guys rock too much.)
Don’t worry, Caleb. We were just giving a shout out to our loyal commenters and I said that this was for Caleb and Saramaile - which was not to diss Nikki or anyone else! Those were the names that first came to mind. When in front of a hundred or so people, you generally just say the first thing that pops to mind so as not to think to hard and remember you’re in front of lots of people!
I’m so glad you guys liked it (in spite of our sound issues). We have new video options now so they should be improving straight away.
I think I am no longer going to go under the name Caleb anymore but instead I am going to find a good, what did Brian call it…, oh right a handle. Any ideas?
Haha Kait, no worries. I didn’t expect one but thanks for one on here lol. (just don’t do it again! jk lol)
I just wanted to say that I absolutely loved this vid. I actually saw the post when I was in the newspaper’s office this afternoon in the like 10 minute break before I had to rush off to work. Made my day. It really is a hard hitting song I think that a lot of people can relate to. At least for this freshman it does.
Oh and Brian…don’t worry. I thought LAC was the name of the college too. It didn’t dawn on me that it stood for Liberal Arts College.
Also! This may sound weird but as a beginning musical writing, I had a revelation finally and your song helped me reach that. My composer is young like me too and our newest song for one of our musicals “Glamor-less” was finished recently because a youtube user who won the online RENT video contest for a Broadway audition agreed to sing it. Now, I’m a lyricist so music is not my forte but my friend who is a music major pointed out that his music repeats A LOT and I was like…well isn’t it supposed to during certain parts? Anyway, after listening to your guys’ song, I totally get it now. I totally see what our song is lacking compared to yours. (Though I’m horrible at explaining but THANK YOU)
It’s a beautiful song and the music is amazing! The whole thing is just wow.
