Get Out 3

Don’t get too excited. We haven’t written any more of “Get Out”. Oh no, all that we did was record the same first two verses and chorus again, but this time, we enlisted my boyfriend (and composer) Stephen Sislen to play guitar for us. Please note that I used MY webcam, posted on youtube and (hopefully) embedded all this code, for those of you who even know what that mean.

If you haven’t seen our previous attempts, then you should probably click here.

Otherwise, enjoy.

Brian Plays Guitar

In which Brian gets angry that his song doesn’t sound good on piano, picks up a guitar which he hasn’t played since high school, and makes something terrifying happen.

Get Out New Lyrics

Hey -

So I spent some time over my hiatus working on “Get Out” and now I’m caught up on the lyrics. I changed up the 1st and 2nd verses because I think this is stronger for getting into the chorus… plus I think the new first verse gives us a better understanding of the song’s context and where we’re going.

1: Dear freshman roommate,
I mean you no offense
But if you wake me up again at 3AM,
Your life will end.

2: Dear next-door neighbor,
I’ve got some news for you.
When you have sex with your boyfriend on speakerphone,
You’re not alone.

1: This is my final plea.
2: Rent a hotel room on me..
1: I’m getting desperate.
2: It’s on me.
1: Just pack your bags and…

Both: Get out of my college experience.
I didn’t invite you.
Get out.
I don’t want to have to fight
your loud,
2: early bird,
1: your drunk
2: your nerdy, horny ass.
1: your horny ass.
Both: You weren’t part of my college brochure.
Get out.
Get out.
I’m slamming the door.

I think Brian might take issue with “but if you wake me up again at 3AM” but I must say that this is because of the super-syncopated way he set “when you have sex with your boyfriend on speakerphone”. Another option – if we don’t want this line to scan is “but if you ever wake me up at 3AM again” – this adds 2 syllables, though so we might not want this… I have a rhythm for it that I think works within the structure, however, so if you want it, let me know and I’ll get it to you.

Let me know what you guys think!

Get Out – 1st verse and chorus

hey kait (and everybody else)

here’s a link to the pdf file of the sheet music to the 1st verse, prechorus and chorus of GET OUT. we need lyrics for the second half of the verse (PC’s verse) and to the prechorus (which is new). I wrote the prechorus because we needed something, unsurprisingly, to get us into the chorus. let me know if you need to hear me play it – it’s pretty straightforward.
